Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

“And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his span of life?”
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
If this song doesn't resonate with you, then you probably haven't lived a life at all.
Dear younger me
It’s not your fault
You were never meant to carry this beyond the cross
Dear younger me
This song is so powerful. I don't even know if the songwriter has any idea of the depth he has plumbed here, but God does. I believe God's character permeates this song as He wishes for people to come to the end of themselves and learn to trust in Him alone. But first...Pain.
I hope people break their promises
And leave you in the cold
I hope they beat your heart to pieces
Worse than you've ever known
I hope you finally arrive
Only to find you're nowhere close
I hope you cry and tears come streaming down your face
I hope this life traps you in more
Than you thought you could ever take
I hope the help you want never comes
And you do it on your own
I like this guy a lot! Very practical applications of the Word for modern life.
And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
You will truly want to "kiss the thorn" in your side when you hear Dr. Tony Evans preaching on this subject. Your Christian life will never be the same once you stop resisting the thorns God has seen fit to allow in your life. Let's start thanking the Lord for His sovereign control in how He deals with us. His inscrutable methods and ways of transforming us into the image of Jesus are on awesome display through the difficult circumstances and people that He (yes, He!) puts along our life's path.
The Amplified Bible has a really special rendering of these verses!
2 Corinthians 12:7-9 And to keep me from being puffed up and too much elated by the exceeding greatness (preeminence) of these revelations, there was given me a thorn (a splinter) in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to rack and buffet and harass me, to keep me from being excessively exalted. Three times I called upon the Lord and besought [Him] about this and begged that it might depart from me; But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious [careful] for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
